Accident kills local man

GEORGES TWP. – A Uniontown man died from injuries he suffered when his vehicle struck a brick wall at the entrance to the Fayette County Vocational-Technical School in Georges Township early Monday.

Auditor of Fayette County reassessment project said process was fair and equitable

An independent review of Fayette County’s reassessment process performed by Resource Technologies Corporation of State College concluded that through the procedures in place “a fair and equitable reassessment was conducted.”
The reassessment project began more than two years ago and the new property values are set to go into effect on Jan. 1.
The main criteria for determining assessed values is based on actual sales in various neighborhoods.

Autopsy results released in death of Nevada helicopter pilot

Officials at the Fayette County Coroner’s office have released autopsy results for a Nevada man killed in a helicopter crash in Wharton Township last week.

Deputy Coroner Marisa Springer said Jonathan Todd Kidd of Las Vegas was killed when the chopper crashed in a field along Kirby Road, about a half-mile from Skyline Drive July 22.

Springer said that an autopsy conducted by forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht revealed that Kidd suffered injuries to his head and torso as well as fractures to his extremities and internal organ lacerations.
